The Key Deer inhabit several of the Florida Keys although most of them are on Big Pine Key or No Name Key. They are a miniature version of the Virginia Whitetail deer. A full-grown buck is a little bit smaller than an adult German Shepherd dog. The key deer have become very acclimated to human contact and will come right up to your car window or even eat out of your hand.
When I first moved to the Florida Keys I lived on Big Pine Key and would see the deer in my yard every morning and early evening. They can be seen all day long but they mostly prefer to eat around sunrise and sunset. The key deer are endangered and very protected. It is a lot of fun to have them living in your backyard. If you would like to see these miniature deer in person take a vacation in big pine key. Better yet, call me to help you purchase your dream home on Big Pine or a nearby Key and you can se them every day.
