The Bloody Mary is a very popular drink in Key West. It seems every Sunday Brunch now features a Bloody Mary bar. I can't count how many times I am out showing Key West homes for sale to potential buyers and they ask to stop for a Bloody Mary between houses. Anyone who can buy a bottle of Bloody Mary Mix, bottle of vodka and a celery stalk can make a Bloody Mary but who makes the best one?
My personal favorite, for the last 30 years, has been Harpoon Harry's.
Harpoon Harry's
822 Caroline Street
Price Range: $
Served daily from open to close. If you like traditional you can go with the standard Bloody Mary which comes with enough garnish to be breakfast itself. If you like spice, a lot of spice, try their Bloody Harry. Both are delicious and, being a mostly local crowd, Harpoon Harry's does not serve low alcohol tourist drinks.
Hot Tin Roof
0 Duval Street
Price Range: $$$
Serving: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Dog Friendly? No
During their weekly Sunday brunch, enjoy an awesome Bloody Mary bar complete with bacon, shrimp, pickled vegetables, and lots of hot sauce. With views of the ocean and some of the best service in town, Hot Tin Roof’s Sunday brunch is in a league of its own. Reservations are a must.
Ram's Head Southernmost
804 Whitehead Street
Price Range: $$
Serving: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Dog Friendly? Yes!
Any day of the week, enjoy Ram’s Head’s extensive Bloody Mary bar with hundreds of hot sauces, spice rimmed glasses, pickles, olives and other tasty garnishes. This outdoor restaurant on the corner of Petronia and Whitehead Streets typically hosts live music and a festive atmosphere.
Rick's Tree Bar
202 Duval St.
Price Range: $
Serving: Just drinks
Dog Friendly? Yes!
Within the popular Rick’s Entertainment Complex is the Tree Bar, known for it’s freshly made cocktails and Duval Street people-watching. You’ll truly be in the heart of it all here. Scoot up to the bar for a no-frills Bloody Mary made from scratch. It’s served in plastic and the garnishes are sparse, but the flavor is on point.
Pepe's Cafe
806 Caroline Street – 6 minute walk from Old Town Manor & Rose Lane Villas
Price Range: $$
Serving: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Dog Friendly? Yes!
Also known for freshly made cocktails and easily one of the best restaurants in Key West, Pepe’s Cafe makes a mean Bloody Mary. Located on quiet Caroline Street near the Historic Seaport, this local favorite makes theirs from scratch and garnishes with a spice rimmed glass, lime and olives.
The Breakfast Club Too
610 Greene Street
Price Range: $$
Serving: Breakfast until 4pm
Dog Friendly? Yes
New to Key West in 2018, The Breakfast Club is eager to please. It offers 11 different varieties on the menu, including the Monster Mary, which is garnished with a whole meal: bacon, jerky, pickle, shrimp, a chicken wing, and more.
Blue Heaven
729 Thomas Street
Price Range: $$$
Serving: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Dog Friendly? Yes!
Although I feel Blue Heaven is an overpriced Tourist Trap I am giving them an honorable mention simply because Hemingway drank Bloody Marys there back when it was a hole in the wall local's place. Bloody Marys are made fresh at this popular Key West restaurant but they are tourist strength drinks at best.. Morning, noon, or night, get your fix and enjoy the laid-back, outdoor atmosphere that often features live music. Expect to wait to get a table at breakfast during busy season.
There you have it, the best Bloody Mary's in Key West and trust me, in 30 years living in Key West I've tried them all. Let's create the perfect home shopping day. We can meet at Harpoon Harry's where you can try a Bloody Harry if you're daring or enjoy a regular Bloody Mary which is as good as they get. After a great breakfast we can spend the morning looking at Key West homes for sale and finish up with lunch anf another Bloody Mary. Welcome to Key West.
